Frequently Asked Questions

Our application gathers cellular and Wi-Fi network performance metrics from mobile devices (Apple iOS, Blackberry, Google Android, Windows Mobile & Windows PC). Our analysis of these measurements provides insight into how your mobile network is performing for your organization by network, carrier, device and geography, all presented in detailed maps and reports. Think of it as a comprehensive, customized coverage map–just for your employee devices.
Mobile Pulse gives you the tools needed to make fact-based decisions on which carrier is best for your organization. The data the Mobile Pulse app collects from your devices provides a complete picture of the performance of different carriers by geography, network, device and operating system. This information is available in many different reporting and mapping formats.
Once you have run the apps for 30 days, the Report Card can be accessed on your dashboard at any time. It provides an easy to understand summary of your wireless network performance and includes specific recommendations to improve service and save money. Our customers often share the report card with IT, procurement, senior management or other users interested in wireless network performance. We also recommend sharing the Report Card with your carrier when there are device or performance issues.

  • Select the best carrier for their organization
  • Negotiate cellular service-level performance agreements (SLA’s)
  • Monitor the network to ensure vendors are meeting agreed upon deliverables
  • Differentiate between device- and network- performance issues
  • Understand geographic areas with poor or insufficient performance or connectivity
  • Pinpoint where carriers need to improve service
  • Know how different mobile devices are performing and make informed recommendations about BYOD device purchases
  • Utilize real data to assist in evaluating new cellular tower locations
The Mobile Pulse app is installed on your employees existing mobile devices (Apple iOS, Blackberry, Google Android, Windows Mobile & Windows PC) and measures the cellular and Wi-Fi network performance quietly in the background. The app is available for download in all major app stores.
Getting started with Mobile Pulse is quick and easy– it only takes about 10 minutes. Our free trial allows you to test drive the app (no credit card required). After signing up for the trial, you can invite as many employees as you want with a simple link sent via email. We recommend a minimum of 10 employees or 10% of your organization’s mobile device inventory use the app to get the best representation of your network performance. Employees download the app from their app store. It’s simple. Give it a try.
Mobile Pulse has data available on all carriers. If your organization has only one carrier, you can compare your performance to our database, which includes all carriers’ networks and devices. In addition, Mobile pulse allows you to compare all of the network types deployed by your carrier. So you can compare 3G vs. 4G vs. LTE. In addition Mobile Pulse allows you to monitor your private wifi and emerging “public” wifi performance. Performance benchmarks help provide easy diagnosis of performance issues vs. device issues and in recommending the best devices to your employees. This data also helps when negotiating vendor contracts and establishing future service level agreements.
Yes. Our solution is compatible with MDM and TEM solutions. Customers often use their MDM solutions to distribute the Mobile Pulse app to their mobile devices. Think of us as your Mobile Network Management Solution.
You can configure the maximum amount of data to be used each month for Mobile Pulse tests. The default maximum usage setting is 100 MB per month/per device. If the limit is reached, tests will discontinue for the month. The amount of data used per test varies based on the speed of your network. The average test uses about 2MB and Mobile Pulse will not exceed 15MB per test.
We recommend plans with 1GB/month or higher. Data usage parameters are configurable to ensure there are no overages due to performance testing. We have tools available to assist you in determining your optimal setting.
Mobile Pulse software is designed to have minimum impact on your device's battery. In addition, the service has built-in battery protection that discontinues testing if any device’s battery gets too low. We do require location services to be enabled, which can increase battery consumption if location services have not been previously enabled.
Mobile Pulse places the highest priority on your privacy and security and is CJIS/FBI security compliant. We protect your data on the device, in transmission and in the data center. Our development methods use industry standard security best practices and will face on-going audits by security experts. Feel free to contact us for more details about Mobile Pulse security.
